Outsourced controllership: integrated financial insight for decisions, not for compliance
Every company has numbers. Few have insight. ALZ builds and runs the controllership function for companies that are scaling but don't yet have the internal structure a full-time CFO would require.
Start a conversationEvery company has numbers. Few have insight. The difference between having closed financials and having a working controllership function is the difference between historical data and information you can decide on right now. Controllership doesn't exist to produce reports — it exists to make sure decision-makers see cash, results and cost as one integrated picture, not across three different systems no one has time to reconcile.
ALZ builds and runs the controllership function for companies that are scaling but don't yet have the internal structure a full-time CFO would require.
What the controllership function actually delivers
Controllership is not accounting. Accounting records what happened. Controllership reads what is happening and informs what needs to be decided. That means: a management P&L with margin read by business line, not just consolidated results; cash tracking that separates operating from financial and extraordinary items; a cost structure that supports pricing and capacity decisions based on real data; and indicators leadership can read in fifteen minutes and use in the meeting.
The ALZ team brings technical training in Accounting to this function as a foundation, not as vocabulary. These are professionals who built their careers in highly regulated sectors — accounting software and telecommunications — and who have worked both sides: those who provide the data and those who make the decisions based on it.
When a company is ready to structure its controllership
There are clear signs that the controllership function is missing. The company can't quickly answer questions like: what is the real cost to serve this client? which product line has a positive margin? does next quarter's cash close without working capital? When those answers depend on hours of manual compiling, the financial management structure isn't serving decisions — it's serving compliance.
Another sign is dependence on a single person to close the numbers. When the monthly result depends on someone who knows where the spreadsheets are and how to interpret them, the company carries an operational risk that shows up in no report.
How ALZ runs a controllership engagement
The work begins with a diagnosis of the current situation: existing data sources, cost structure, how information flows between areas, and what leadership actually uses to decide. From that diagnosis, we define scope — building the function from scratch, reorganizing a function that exists but doesn't deliver, or running the controllership on an ongoing outsourced basis.
The format is designed for each company. It can be on-site, remote or hybrid. We serve companies throughout Brazil, with particular focus on highly regulated sectors — telecommunications, B2B software and services with complex tax structures.
The engagement ends when the controllership is working: integrated data, a defined process, information reaching decision-makers at the right frequency and in the right format. Not when a report has been delivered.
If what we describe here names a real problem in your company, the conversation starts with a diagnosis.
